Are you sure you don’t have the time or you’re just bad at managing it?

Are you sure you don’t have the time or you’re just bad at managing it?

This week we’ll talk about a very serious subject, it’s something that most people go through because of different reasons. Let’s explore together what’s burnout, what are the causes, symptoms and what we can do about it.

What is burnout?

According to the APA Dictionary of Psychology, burnout is defined as “physical, emotional or mental exhaustion, accompanied by decreased motivation, lowered performance and negative attitudes towards oneself and others.”

Why do you experience burnout?

One of the big reasons, it’s the workload. People have too much work to do, because most of the times they have to do the job of 2 or more people. The “reward” is the same salary.

On the other hand, some people don’t have the skills to get a large amount of work done in a short time. It would be really good if you could do your best to improve that time, if you want to be a high performer. Having professional goals helps against the burnout, but you have to manage the effort.

Why do people have too much work to do?

Most would say because of the boss; “He just wants me to do too many things and I don’t have the time”. Are you sure you don’t have the time or you’re just bad at managing it?

It’s fine, you’re not the only one, time management is a big problem.

Let’s say you got a new job, it will take a while until you get to know all the things that are happening there, understand and get things done. After that, you will have to see how much time you need for each responsibility. The more work you will have, the faster you will have to get at doing the repetitive things and get better at managing time.

There are times when you have to do the job of more people, which will make your schedule very busy. Why does this happen?

Usually because you allow the boss to take advantage of you.

“What do you mean?”

Hey Mike, can you do this?

Sure thing.

Hey Mike, can you do that?

Sure boss.

Now you got it?

Ye, ye I got it but if I say no, then he’ll fire me. Are you sure?
