“How will I know if another job is the better choice?”
You don’t BUT it’s better to find another workplace than to be stuck,
complacent, unhappy, stressed and frustrated in the current job. Furthermore,
now you have some experience in dealing with a certain kind of people and you
can deal with problems easier.
Because you’re used to it, even if it’s not great or even if it’s a
toxic environment. Maybe you say you hate it but the truth is that you got used
to the drama. Think about it, why else would you accept that job if you hate
it? A part of you likes the negative emotions and find it hard to let it go. It’s
ok, you’re not the only one.
The problem is that any toxic environment, even if it’s a job or a
relationship, hurts you in a way or another. If it doesn’t directly affect you,
it affects the people around you. I’m sure you know what I’m talking about. How
many times did you come home and yelled at your partner/kid/parents even though
they didn’t do anything to you? They just happened to be there and you got mad
at them for no reason. After that you felt bad and had to apologize. This time
it was ok but that other time, you weren’t forgiven that easily.
Stress affects all systems of the body including the musculoskeletal,
respiratory, cardiovascular, endocrine, gastrointestinal, nervous, and
reproductive systems.
